Whereas Maxillary sinus surgery in Caldwell Luc operation is approached in a slightly different fashion: the maxillary sinus area is approached through the upper jaw i.e., via the second molar teeth thereby creating a vent between the maxillary sinus and the nose which in turn result in better drainage of the unwanted secretions in the nose. This procedure is preferred when there is a possibility of sarcoma in the maxillary sinus area.
